We understand the impact of mental health issues on individuals, families and communities and are dedicated to providing practical support. In today’s challenging environment we know that a single or combination of factors can result in you or a member of your family struggling with a mental illness. Anglicare is here to help.
We offer programs and provide counselling to help people to overcome challenges and maximise opportunities. We offer a range of support programs for both individuals, couples and families to assist people to cope with the influence of mental health problems in their own environment.
Anglicare specialises in both individual and group work activities. Our caring approach to individualised attention ensures we tailor a program to suit your individual circumstances and ensure we offer the best support to you and your family.
A Place to Belong
A Place to Belong is a small organisation working to build inclusive, connected communities which will welcome, respect and include others, especially those who experience mental health challenges. We hope to inspire and provide resources for people within the community who wish to offer vital friendship and thread of contact for which others yearn – those who are excluded and are struggling to find their place to belong.
Under the auspices of Anglicare Southern Queensland, A Place to Belong is a network of committed people. The A Place to Belong team is made up of a small group of dedicated people, support workers and recovery facilitators, some who work from our office in West End with others out in the community. Many people volunteer their time and energy to make things happen.
A Place to Belong runs regular training sessions for community members and groups and an annual Recovery Day which supports those involved in the lives of those with mental health challenges. It also conducts twice-weekly Reading, Writing and Computer Groups at West End and Mt. Gravatt. These groups assist those who have not acquired literacy skills and who require assistance with many tasks such as completing forms.
A Place to Belong’s office is at 69 Thomas Street, West End and may be contacted on (07) 3217 2522. Further information is available on the A Place to Belong website www.aplacetobelong.org.au
