The Anglicare ARMS Homework Assistance Program provides free academic and English language support for upper primary and secondary students predominantly of refugee backgrounds who are culturally and linguistically diverse. The program utilises volunteer tutors with a range of professional and academic expertise to assist in all subject areas.
The program’s primary aim is to assist students become independent learners while helping them understand concepts and complete school-based tasks, the latter being of importance to resettlement when students are needing to ‘fit in’ at school.
This program enables Anglicare to gain a wider understanding and appreciation of diversity and issues of social justice.
The program operates various sessions a week during school terms.
