Anglicare Symes Thorpe occupies 18 hectares of land covered in gum trees and was opened in 1961, with a new section added in 2003. There is a dedicated chapel on-site too.
There is a dedicated chapel on-site and fully qualified Spiritual and Pastoral carers are also available to provide support to our residents and their families
Divided into three units, Symes Thorpe has 74 single rooms, all with ensuites and each room provided with a wardrobe and duchess, television and telephone outlet and an emergency call system. In addition there are eight double rooms for couples with shared bathrooms.
A separate unit provides secure accommodation for residents with dementia or wandering tendencies.
Each unit has a communal lounge and dining room, and our dementia residents have their own special quiet, relaxing area.
Activities and outings appropriate to the interests and care needs of our residents are arranged and supervised by diversional therapists including music therapy.
A wide range of activities are catered for, with very active music, art and craft groups, golf events, pet therapy, a men’s club and pampering days for the ladies.
