What is the National Disability Insurance Scheme?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a federal government initiative that will change the way people with disabilities receive support services and funding. The NDI scheme will replace differing state and territory disability funding models with a uniform national approach. NDIS begins in Queensland on 1 July, 2016 and will be fully implemented by July 2019.
The changes will enable those with disabilities to receive services that meet their own individual needs and life goals. The NDIS will provide greater flexibility and help people to choose the services they want and how and when these services are delivered.
The Queensland Government is also funding workshops across Queensland to help people prepare for the NDIS. Click here to find out more about the transition and how to register for free information sessions.
