About Us

Anglicare Southern Queensland is an Anglican not-for-profit organisation committed to social and community welfare issues and aged and community care needs, focusing on disadvantaged members of our community

Who are Anglicare volunteers?

Submit to FacebookSubmit to Google PlusSubmit to TwitterSubmit to LinkedIn

Anglicare Southern Queensland volunteers come from all walks of life – tertiary students, retirees, job seekers and professionals.  They are aged between 16 and 85 years and make the decision to volunteer for a number of different reasons.
They come to us to develop skills, gain experience, realise a passion, make a contribution, gain a sense of belonging and meaning or do something worthwhile in the community.

For most of our opportunities little or no previous experience is required. We have roles in a wide range of areas across our business.

Anglicare Southern Queensland needs you!

Benefits

The primary benefit you will receive from working as a volunteer for Anglicare Southern Queensland is the feeling of satisfaction you will get from the contribution you are making to our local community.

A number of our volunteers have gained paid employment in other fields as a direct result of the experience they have gained from working with Anglicare Southern Queensland.

Our staff and the clients we serve value the contribution you will make in assisting us to better deliver a range of services and programs.

While working with Anglicare Southern Queensland in a volunteer capacity you are covered by insurance in the event that you sustain an injury.

Anglicare Southern Queensland ensures all volunteers are provided with training specific to the role they will undertake.

You are also able to claim for any approved out-of-pocket expenses incurred by you (this does not include travel to and from the place of your work.)

Police checks

All volunteers will be required to undergo a police check.

The world is hugged by the faithful arms of volunteers. ~Terri Guillemets

Want to spread a little kindness and a cheerful smile in your local community? Anglicare is seeking dedicated and friendly volunteers to work alongside our staff to assist at the Bethania Respite Centre. Volunteers need to be available to engage and encourage activities (including crafts, games, activities and concerts) with our elderly clients on Thursdays from 0930 - 1400.

As one of our engaging volunteers you will assist with the delivery of recreational activities, preparation, set up and clean up as well as assisting clients to and from activity/transport. You will have a genuine interest in people, a warm communication style and friendly manner.

You need to be over 18, trustworthy and reliable, have excellent communication skills, be prepared to complete the training provided and be able and willing to follow procedures.

Clients and staff depend on the consistency and reliability of volunteers so you must be available for at least one shift per week and be able to commit to a minimum of 6 months weekly volunteering. If you are looking for work experience, to complete a Certificate III in Aged Care, or paid employment this opportunity will not be suitable.

As an aged care provider confidentiality is critical to us so you will need to sign a role description which includes a confidentiality agreement, be prepared to provide us with 2 referees and undergo a criminal history check (we pay). If you already hold a current police check this will speed up the application process.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer reimbursement of travel costs to the service but we can offer you the chance to gain great personal satisfaction and experience, hear some wonderful stories and get to know some very special people.
